The staff of the Oregon Commission for the Blind Technology Center is committed to enabling blind and low-vision Oregonians to achieve independence and a richer life through technology. To reach this goal, we:
  1. Train individuals in on-on-one sessions to use adaptive technology
  2. Work with employers and employees to optimize adaptive software and hardware and software at a job site
  3. Participate in public awareness and education programs
  4. Provide technical support for adaptive software and hardware
  5. Assess an individual's adaptive needs.
The Technology Center maintains contains workstations with commonly used current adaptive and general Windows software and hardware to help us meet our training and assessment goals.
This Center is used by both students and the community as a resource for both training and for carrying out individual projects. Screen-reading, optical character recognition, and magnification software as well as several brands of refreshable braille displays are the core of our adaptive software.
Internet Radio

In conjunction with Omni Media Networks, a non-profit agency, we host an Internet radio station. As this project progresses, we will be using this medium to reach the whole State of Oregon with training and blindness-related information.
