Our social landscape is rapidly evolving.  Marijuana was once reviled but is now widely touted for medicinal benefits.  According to the Marijuana Policy Project, 23 states and the District of Columbia have passed medical marijuana legislation and 4 states and the District of Columbia have passed legislation allowing the recreational use of marijuana.  What are the implications for employers?  This interactive and practical presentation will explore marijuana issues in the workplace as well as those surrounding other illegal drugs, the legal and illegal use of prescription medication, and the use and abuse of alcohol.  The discussion will explore delicate issues for employers such as privacy rights of employees and the related issues of accommodating employees with disabilities, which may intersect with the use of or addiction to alcohol and drugs.  Are your policies carefully constructed and are your practices carried out with due consideration for potential legal pitfalls and practical approaches?
