Short Duration Employment Permit Application

For Temporary Employment of Ten or More Minors for a Short Duration

Oregon statute and rules provide an alternate path for employers of minors to meet their obligation to obtain an employment certificate (and an employment permit for any minor under the age of 14).

If the proposed employment is of "short duration" (meaning employment that terminates ten days or less from the date of hire), AND 10 or more minors will be employed, the employer may either apply for a "regular" employment certificate for minors 14 - 17 and individual employment permits for any minors under age 14 employed, or the employer may apply for a "short duration" permit to employ minors, including minors under age 14.

Note: The Short Duration Employment Permit is not available for minors to be employed in the entertainment industry.  For available options, please see our page for entertainment employers.

EMPLOYMENT OF MINORS IN VIOLATION OF OREGON LAW MAY RESULT IN
THE IMPOSITION OF SUBSTANTIAL PENALTIES.
