| National Needs Alter Plans for GED Test, 5th Edition |

Over the past several months the movement towards more rigorous national standards for high school education has gained momentum. This changing national conversation on what it means to be a high school graduate and what is needed to be college and career ready has a direct impact on the GED Test. We must introduce changes and improvements to the GED Test that are aligned with this new direction. As a result, we will not introduce a GED Test, 5th Edition, on January 1, 2012. Because of the changing national landscape we have decided to transition directly from the current 2002 Test Series to a new, more comprehensive assessment program. This new program, GED 20/20, will dramatically increase the number of test-takers and GED credential recipients who are prepared to pursue postsecondary education opportunities. Elements of the new program will introduced as early as 2010.
We are preparing a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document for distribution next
week. The FAQ document will be updated regularly as additional guidance becomes
available.

For more than sixty years, the GED® Tests have offered personal satisfaction and broadened professional, occupational and educational opportunities for millions of adults, who, for many reasons, were unable to complete their formal high school credential. The GED Tests give adults who did not graduate from high school the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency certificate. Recognized nationwide by employers and educators, the GED certificate has increased education and employment opportunities for millions of adults since 1942.

Obtaining an Official GED Transcript
Getting your GED status has never been easier, faster, and more secure. E-Transcripts offer GED examinees complete control over their personal record by providing direct access through the internet. It takes just a few minutes to download and print a transcript for schools, employers, the military, etc.
E-Transcripts are free to examinees, so you can print as many copies as you like whenever you require them.
Getting Started
To get started, you will need your ACCESS Code, on your original transcript.
If you have your ACCESS code, please visit the the following website.

If you DO NOT have your ACCESS Code
Go to your nearest Oregon GED Testing Center and take your valid driver's license or other forms of government-issued identification that shows your name, address, date of birth, signature and photograph.
Then, go visit http://www.GED123.org and print your official transcript.
If you cannot go to a Testing Center, please see Order Transcripts or Certificates below.

Order a Transcript or Duplicate Certificate
Transcripts and Duplicate certificates may be requested from the Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development. There is a $5.00 fee per document ordered. We do not fax transcripts or certificates. You must request by mail and we will return the transcript or certificate by mail. Allow 7-10 days for processing once we receive the request form.
If you need a transcript or certificate immediately,
- You can pick up the document in the State Office in Salem. For directions, go to http://www.oregon.gov/CCWD/directions.shtml
- You can pay for priority or overnight delivery of the request form and pay the postage for the priority or overnight return through USPS, UPS, FEDX, or other mailing services.

Verifications cannot be done by telephone. To verify someone has earned a GED in
Oregon:
Fax your company's completed official request form AND the examinee’s signed information release to 503-378-5908. We do not accept electronic signatures. Requests missing the signed release will not be processed. The following must be included:
- Examinee’s name(s) at the time of testing;
- Examinee’s complete SS#;
- Examinee’s complete date of birth;
- Year of testing (approximate is acceptable) and where (at least the city) the GED tests were taken—as best as you are able to ascertain; and
- Examinee’s signature releasing the information.
We will provide you with results by return fax. We will not fax a transcript or duplicate certificate. If you need a transcript or duplicate certificate, then you will need to submit by mail your form or our form (see above) and payment.
Allow 7 to 10 business days for a response.

Where do I get a transcript from another state?
Records from tests taken in other states and internationally must be ordered from that location.

| Can I get my scores online? |
|
You can view your scores and print a transcript at http://www.ged123.org. You must use your access code. If you do not remember your access code, please contact the testing center where you tested.
The school or employer can go to the website listed above and enter the verification code from the transcript. Check with your school or employer to see if they will accept a transcript printed from GED123.org or if you need to get an official transcript from the GED State Office.
For records prior to 1986, you will need to request the document using the above GED Request form.
