Materials Management Workgroup

In the fall of 2013, DEQ convened a new workgroup to engage stakeholders, solicit input and gain support for key actions needed to fully implement Materials Management in Oregon: 2050 Vision and Framework for Action.

What will they talk about?
The Materials Management Workgroup will explore whether existing statutory language puts up any barriers and try to identify changes that would help us move toward the 2050 Vision. The goal is to develop solutions that engender broad stakeholder and agency support, and translate them into legislative proposals as needed.

The Workgroup will be supported by three subgroups to focus on three areas:
·         Goals and Measures
·         Sustainable Funding
·         Recycling Opportunity

Who is involved?
Membership in the workgroup is by invitation only to maintain a manageable size and discussion. The three supporting subgroups will have open membership, and DEQ welcomes participation by anyone who is interested.

How can I participate?
Workgroup meetings are open to the public. Refer to agendas posted on our workgroup meeting page for details.

How can I learn more?
Read papers on sustainable material production, consumption, and end-of-life.
