DEQ is pleased to be working with the State of Washington and the Oregon Sustainability Board on a project to evaluate the potential benefits and challenges inherent in product-level environmental footprinting. In 2014, we’re undertaking a research project to better understand the landscape of footprinting standards and programs, the experience and perspective of area businesses, and the program and policy options that might help businesses and consumers in the Pacific Northwest benefit from footprinting. Research includes a survey and interviews of businesses. An advisory group of stakeholders drawn from across Oregon and Washington will help direct this research and discuss the results and possible next steps. A report should be available in late 2014.
