ERDC Copays & Billing

Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) is a program that helps families pay for child care. Many families also pay part of the child care cost. This is called a copayment or "copay." There is a limit to how much DELC pays for child care. If your provider charges more than the limit, you will need to pay the difference (in addition to your copay).

Child Care Copays

You are responsible for making your copay to your child care provider each month.

  1. Make sure to get a receipt from the provider.
  2. You will not be eligible for ERDC if you don't pay your copay.
  3. You may be able to make other copay arrangements with your provider, like “bartering” (exchanging services for child care). Be sure to get the agreement in writing.

Copay Charts

The charts below give an estimate of how much your copay will be. We will tell you the exact amount of your copay after you are approved for ERDC. "Countable monthly income" means your gross income, or how much you earn before taxes and deductions.

Benefit Limits

The Employment Related Day Care program covers:

You must pay the provider for time not covered by ERDC. There is also a limit to how much DELC will pay. If the provider charges more than this, you must cover the additional cost. The child care provider rates page shows the maximum amounts DELC pays providers.

Starting in 2023, many families will receive more child care hours.

Students no longer need to work to qualify for child care assistance. Plus, all students will receive additional child care hours each week for study time. Families with night shift jobs, caretakers on medical leave, and people caring for someone outside their household may also qualify for expanded ERDC benefits.
