You are not alone
Beyond the support of your caseworker, the child's social worker at placement, and therapists, adoptive families reach out to each other to share their experiences and learn from one another. There are many ways to find the support you need.
Adoptive Family Support Groups have been established across the state. Local DHS offices and ORPARC. The Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center can provide information about support groups as well as other resources available to you.
Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center (ORPARC) serves families who adopt children in the state's custody.
ORPARC services include:
Training opportunities throughout Oregon
A lending library of videos, audio tapes, books, and other materials with mailing options
Referral lists of mental health providers, advocacy groups, and support groups.
A welcome packet to all adoptive families.
