State offices and local organizations in many counties have a variety of programs that help support children in foster care. You can donate your time, your skills, materials for programs or your resources. Please contact your local office to learn how you can help.

Business partnerships

How your business can help

 

Businesses can be a significant resource in their communities to help find and support foster and adoptive families.

 

Here are some suggestions:

  • Hang a poster in your business window, in your staff break room or on a bulletin board in your business
  • Place flyers at the checkout stand or insert into merchandise bags.
  • Host an event at your business for those interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.
  • Host an appreciation event for existing foster parents to support retention.
  • Donate supplies or money to meet the needs of children in foster care
  • Donate supplies or money to support an event for the retention of foster parents or for the recruitment of foster and adoptive parents.

Faith Communities

How your church can help

 

Members of your congregation can support children in foster care by helping us find foster and adoptive families. Some activities take only a few minutes or a few hours; other support can be given on a regular basis. Here are some suggestions of ways to support foster parents and help children in our community find the safety and stability they need.

  • Identify and publicly recognize foster and adoptive parents in your congregation by saying thank you from the pulpit.
  • Find something that a small group or the entire church can do to support the foster parents. Provide meals for them, organize transportation or help with activities for the kids.
  • Host Orientation Meetings: Invite current foster families in your church along with your local DHS contact to host an information session about becoming a foster parent.
