Free evening lecture focuses on obesity and kids
Children, obesity and the marketing of food to children will be the topics of a free public lecture in Portland on June 25.
National speaker Margo Wootan, DSC., will speak on "Combating Childhood Obesity: Taking a Closer Look at Food Marketing to Children" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Souther Auditorium at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, 9205 SW Barnes Rd.
Wootan is director of nutrition policy at the Center for Science in the Public interest, one of the country’s leading consumer advocacy organizations specializing in nutrition and other health issues. She is quoted regularly in the national media on topics ranging from obesity to public policy and child nutrition.
There is no charge for the evening event, which is being sponsored by Community Health Partners, Oregon Dietitic Association, Oregon Department of Human Services, and Providence Medical System.
