Officials to discuss Portland Harbor fish advisory

Public health officials from the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) will host a public meeting on June 29 to discuss a recent fish advisory for Portland Harbor.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the St. Johns Community Center, 8427 North Central in Portland.

On June 16 DHS, in cooperation with Multnomah County Health Department, advised the public of high levels of PCBs in fish caught from the Portland Harbor in the lower Willamette River. DHS also made special recommendations for consumption of fish from the area between Sauvie Island and the Fremont Bridge.

Dave Stone, DHS toxicologist, will present information regarding fish data, pollutants and public health implications and respond to questions from the community.

The complete fish advisory is on the Web.
