Regional meetings will focus on asthma


Improving asthma care through self-management is the topic of six free community meetings to be held in Klamath Falls, Bend, Pendleton, Portland, Salem and Newport in October, sponsored by the Oregon Department of Human Services.

Local members of the Oregon Asthma Network are strongly encouraged to attend, as are others in the community that have a strong interest in asthma care in Oregon. Meeting dates, times, and locations are:

  • Oct. 12 in Klamath Falls: Meeting is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Multi-Purpose Room B at the Community Health Education Center, 2200 El Dorado.
  • Oct. 13 in Bend: Meeting is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Stan Owen Room at the Deschutes County Health Department, 2577 Courtney Drive.
  • Oct. 14 in Pendleton: Meeting is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Anthony Hospital, 1601 S.E. Court Ave.
  • Oct. 19 in Portland: Meeting is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Town Hall ballroom at Kaiser Permanente, 3704 Interstate Ave.
  • Oct 20 in Salem: Meeting is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Auditorium at Salem Hospital, 665 S.E. Winter St.
  • Oct 21 in Newport: Meeting is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Samaritan Pacific Community Hospital, 930 S.W. Abbey St.

    Participants will hear about evidence-based tobacco cessation programs, be able to comment on asthma education materials, share current information about asthma in Oregon and explore methods for improving asthma self-management in the community.
