State approves relocation of nursing facility beds in Yamhill County

The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) issued a proposed order today to Hillside Senior Living Community, LLC, granting a certificate of need to relocate 20 nursing facility beds.

The beds will move from Sheridan Care Center in Sheridan to the Village at Hillside in McMinnville. In the past, the Village at Hillside exclusively served Hillside Retirement Community residents; the additional beds will allow them to accept patients from outside the retirement community.

Effective March 2, the licensed bed capacity of Sheridan Care Center was increased by six beds. With the relocation of the 20 beds, Sheridan Care Center would be licensed for 41 nursing facility beds and will continue to operate in the community under new ownership.

Today's action is a proposed order. Any affected party who takes exception to the proposed order may ask DHS to hold an informal hearing. If no request for a hearing is received by March 21, 2005, the proposed order will automatically become final. For further information about this project, contact Jana Fussell, DHS certificate of need coordinator, at (503) 731-4320.

Under state certificate of need law, Hillside Senior Living Community, LLC, was required to seek state approval of this project because it involves the relocation of existing nursing facility beds. The purpose of the law is to see that health services are adequately distributed in the state without unnecessary duplication of services or excessive cost to patients.
