Guide for end-of-life decisions available on DHS website
"Being Prepared: A Resource Guide for End-of-Life Decisions and Planning" has been released by the Governor's Commission on Senior Services as a new publication on its Web site.
The guide, first published two years ago, has been distributed to thousands of older adults throughout Oregon and their families. A new, updated print version is scheduled for distribution to Area Agencies on Aging in November through a partnership among the AAAs, the Commission on Senior Services and the Oregon office of the American Association of Retired Persons.
The guide can be found at the Commission on Senior Service's Web site.
"I'm pleased that so many older adults throughout the state have found this guide useful," said John C. Helm, Commission chair. "This really is an important tool for people to prepare for the kinds of decisions they must make during the natural aging process."
The Governor's Commission on Senior Services is charged in Oregon statute with advising the Governor and the Director of Human Services on needs of elderly persons and recommending actions by the Governor, the Department of Human Services, other governmental entities and the private sector, appropriate to meet such needs.
