What: Public meeting of the Governor's Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs.
When: Dec. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Hearing room 50, Oregon State Capitol, 900 Court St., N.E., Salem.
Agenda: Items include reports on underage drinking, evidence-based practices and other activities of the Office of Mental Health and Addiction Services in the Oregon Department of Human Services. At 11 a.m., Council members will present annual awards to leaders in battling addictions.
State statute charges the 11-member Governor's Council, created in 1985, with duties that include describing the need for prevention and treatment, identifying standards for measuring success, reporting on addictions' economic and social impacts, and making recommendations to the governor.
