Public meeting notice: Public Health Advisory Board to meet March 3
The Public Health Advisory Board will meet on March 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 918 of the Portland State Office Building, 800 N.E. Oregon St. in Portland.
Agenda highlights include an update from Susan Allan, M.D., state public health director in the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), regarding progress on the state of Oregon health report and the governor's pandemic flu summit that is being planned in conjunction with federal health authorities.
Mel Kohn, M.D., state epidemiologist in DHS, will explain proposed changes to HIV reporting rules; public hearings have been scheduled for March. Keith Harcourt, PHAB chair, and Gail Shibley, DHS Office of Public Health Systems administrator, will give an update on the biopharming ad hoc committee meetings. Katherine Bradley, DHS Office of Family Health administrator, will provide information on an upcoming adolescent health conference. Luncheon speaker is Willie Smith, political director of Congressman Earl Blumenauer's office.
PHAB is a 15-member governor-appointed board charged with reviewing statewide public health issues and advising DHS on public health policy matters.
