Governor's Commission on Senior Services to meet Friday
What: Public meeting of the Governor's Commission on Senior Services.
When: Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Standing committees will meet on Thursday as noted on the GCSS Web site.
Where: DHS Training Center, 4494 River Road, N., Keizer.
Agenda: Commission monthly meeting. Agenda is posted on the GCSS Web site.
The commission will discuss the recently completed community forums on the future of long-term care; meet with disability advocates to discuss a joint position statement on Oregon Project Independence; review proposed rules on the expansion of the Independent Choices Program; and continue to plan their strategic retreat set for this fall. The commission will also meet with Rita Conrad, acting executive director of the Oregon Progress Board, to discuss Oregon Benchmarks related to seniors.
A time for public testimony at the full Commission meeting is scheduled for Friday at 9:20 a.m.
The Governor's Commission on Senior Services is charged in Oregon statute with advising the Governor and the director of Human Services on needs of elderly persons and recommending actions to meet those needs.
