Pain management conference scheduled Sept. 27 in Salem
Physicians and other health-care professionals are invited to register for a Sept. 27 conference, "Pain management in the treatment of mental health patients."
The one-day Salem conference will feature B. Eliot Cole, M.D., executive director of the American Society of Pain Educators, as keynote speaker. Five other speakers, all members of the Oregon Pain Management Commission, will address subjects such as maximizing positive outcomes and treating pain with pharmaceuticals, chiropractic, acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
The conference, limited to 150 persons, is co-sponsored by the Oregon Pain Management Commission and Salem Hospital.
The conference is being offered in response to requests from mental health practitioners, said Diana Norton, pain management coordinator in the Oregon Department of Human Services.
The Oregon Legislature established the commission to improve pain management practices in the state.
