Nursing Facility Staffing Commission to meet twice in September

Who: Nursing Facility Staffing Commission

What: Two public meetings

When: Wednesday, September 6, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, September 15, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Both meetings will be held in Room 257, State Capitol, 900 Court St. NE, Salem, Ore.

Agenda items for the September 6 meeting include:

  • Presentation on the Future of Long Term Care planning effort.
  • Review of enhanced minimum staffing options and discuss of the pros and cons of each as it relates to quality outcomes, cost, and operational issues such as workforce, facility size and resident acuity.
  • Discuss options for monitoring and enforcement of new requirements.

The September 15 meeting is reserved for public testimony and to finalize the commission's recommendation.

The Nursing Facility Staffing Commission is charged with making recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature on how to enhance Oregon's minimum nurse staffing ratios to maximize quality outcomes for nursing facility residents.
