Gresham resident to oversee Oregon's food stamp program




The Oregon Department of Human Services has named Belit Stockfleth as the food stamp and prevention programs manager for the Office of Self Sufficiency.


In addition to the food stamp program, the Office of Self Sufficiency includes Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, childcare, JOBS program, teen pregnancy prevention, Medicaid policy, and refugee services. The office is part of the Children, Adults and Families Division.


Stockfleth, of Gresham, has been with DHS 10 years and has held a number of positions, including case manager, community resource coordinator and operations manager.


"Her diverse background includes work in the field and the policy and program offices," said Vic Todd, administrator, Office of Self Sufficiency. "She brings to this position a blend of experience from both the local and state levels where she was successful in establishing good working relationships with other agencies and community partners."


The federally financed food stamp program, which is intended to provide nutrition assistance to low income families, is administered by DHS. The federal government finances benefits and shares administrative expenses with the states.
