State seeks volunteer drivers for Clatsop, Columbia and Tillamook Counties
The Department of Human Services is experiencing a critical shortage of drivers in the tri-county area.
"Volunteer drivers provide a vital service to adults and children who need transportation to and from medical-related appointments," said Sharon Kisor, Volunteer Coordinator. "Our goal is to recruit six to 10 new drivers."
Drivers are on call and receive one day notice when they will be needed. These drivers transport clients to medical or other health-related appointments within and outside the tri-county area.
Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and are required to have car insurance. DHS will do a criminal background check.
Drivers use their own cars and are reimbursed 44.5 cents a mile.
If you are interested in volunteering but not as a driver, DHS is developing other opportunities.
