State approves nursing facility project in SE Portland
The Oregon Department of Human Services today issued a proposed order to Laurelhurst Village, LLC, doing business as Laurelhurst Village, for the relocation of 47 licensed nursing facility beds to a new skilled nursing facility on its campus.
Laurelhurst Village is also remodeling part of its current physical plant and will locate 72 nursing facility beds in that space. Laurelhurst Village is at 3060 S.E. Stark Street in Portland.
The order issued today is a proposed order. Any affected party who takes exception to the proposed order may request the Oregon Department of Human Services, Public Health Division, to hold an informal hearing. If no request for a hearing is received by Sept. 24, 2007, the proposed order will automatically become final. For further information about this project, please contact Jana Fussell, certificate of need coordinator, at 971-673-1108.
Additionally, before this project begins there may be further requirements associated with approval of this certificate of need, such as obtaining state licensure or federal certification for Medicare and Medicaid if requested.
Under state certificate of need law, Laurelhurst Village was required to seek state approval of this project because it involves the relocation of existing nursing facility beds. State law charges DHS officials with reviewing proposals for new hospitals and nursing facilities to ensure health care consumers don't pay for the cost of unnecessary facilities.
