Governor's Council members to meet in Roseburg to discuss mission, hear community reports
What: Public meeting of the Governor's Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs.
When: Council members will meet Monday beginning at 6 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Monday's meeting will be at D's Magnolia restaurant, 647 S.E. Jackson St., Roseburg. Tuesday's will be at the Umpqua Valley Arts Center, 1624 W. Harvard Ave., Roseburg.
Agenda: At Monday's dinner meeting, council members will discuss a proposed name change, adding areas such as DUII, boating and pharmacy to their charge, and expanding the 12-member body to 15. In consultation with the Governor's office, decisions would go to the 2009 Legislature as proposed legislation.
On Tuesday, council members will hear from representatives of approximately 20 agencies, organizations and programs, among them the Commission on Children and Families, Roseburg Public Schools, Douglas County health and juvenile departments, Methamphetamine Task Force, Douglas County Drug Court, Family Development Center, the Cow Creek tribe and a panel of people in recovery.
