Adult Foster Home Provider Training

Skills for Life 

The training you find within this siteis intended to provide continuing education units (CEUs) or contact hours that you can use to enhance the care you provide to your residents. This training is also intended to meet your annual licensing or certification requirements as an adult foster home provider in Oregon.


General Training Information

Training is presented as Classroom, Conference, Online or Self-Study. A description of these training styles is provided below and links to each of these resources is available in the menu at right.

  • Classroom Training -These classroom trainings are held in various locations throughout the State. They are often offered only once, but in some cases, the same training may be offered on more than one date, in more than one location.
     
  • Conferences- These events often present an opportunity for AFH providers to obtain continuing education and satisfy many or all of their annual training requirements. if you are interested in attending a specific conference that is not posted as an approved training resource, consider submitting your own request to the Training Credit Committee.
     
  • Online Training- This type of training is available through many different resources. Each training on the Online Training​ page includes a link to obtain additional information and to take the online training.
     
  • Self-Studies- This option provides the opportunity for self-paced course work, or training that you do in your free time using as little time or as much time as you need to learn the information provided. You order the self-study you want, using the link found on the Self-Study page.

The following courses do not require prior authorization from the Training Credit Committee:

  • First Aid and CPR if offered by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

  • Oregon Intervention System (OIS), OIS – G (general), OIS – IF (Individual Focus), OIS – C (Crisis)

 

Approval of any course is not an SPD endorsement of the course content.

Credit hours for continuing education requirements will only be given if approved for your provider type. The provider type approval is noted in the course information.
