Problem Solving with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS)

We believe you will enjoy working with our staff at OVRS. Sometimes, though, people don’t agree. You may disagree with your counselor about your program. You can solve most problems by talking to your counselor or the branch manager.

What can you do if you need more help with a disagreement?


1. Call the Client Assistance Program (CAP).

The Client Assistance Program helps people who have problems with OVRS. It is separate from OVRS. They do not charge to help you. Call this number for a CAP person near you: 1-800-452-1694 Voice or 1-800-556-5351 TTY. You can email CAP at welcome@oradvocacy.org.

2. Ask for an Administrative Review.

This is an informal meeting with a OVRS staff member who has not worked on your case. Write asking for an Administrative Review within 30 days of the decision or action that you don’t agree with. Send your letter to:

3. Ask for Mediation Services.

Mediation is another way to help clear up disagreements. A trained person, not employed by OVRS, tries to help people on both sides agree. Ask for mediation by writing a letter or filling out a Request for Mediation Services form and giving it to the local OVRS Branch Manager at the local office or by sending it to:

4. Ask for an Impartial Fair Hearing.

A Fair Hearing is a formal review. Ask for a fair hearing by writing a letter or filling out a Request for Fair Hearing form and giving it to the local OVRS Branch Manager or by sending it to:

Please tell us what the problem is, including the date of the decision or action you want reviewed. Send your letter or form within 60 days of the action or decision you don’t agree with.

Note: OVRS cannot pay for your legal services.
