OSCI Lifts Temporary Lockdown March 30th
At approximately 6:45 p.m., March 27, fights broke out among inmates on the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI) recreation yard, as evening yard was called in.

As a result, one warning shot was fired from a tower to signal that all inmates should lie on the ground. All inmates immediately complied.
Sixty-two inmates were identified as being involved in the yard incident. All involved inmates were taken to a staging area after the incident. Those inmates not involved were escorted off the yard and returned to their cells. No staff or inmate injuries were reported.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., several fights broke out in the staging area. Staff intervened and quickly ended these fights. Several inmates received minor injuries and one inmate was transported to Salem Hospital for medical treatment. No staff injuries were reported.
OSCI was placed on lockdown status, March 28 and 29, necessitating the interruption of visiting, religious services and other programs. The facility returned to normal operations at 6 a.m., March 30th.
These incidents are under internal investigation.
