Inmate visiting canceled at minimum security section of Coffee Creek Correctional Facility

Inmate visiting at the minimum security section (only) of Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, has been canceled until further notice, due to a gastrointestinal illness affecting about two dozen inmates.

At this time, the cause of the gastrointestinal illness is under investigation. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. State public health authorities are working with Coffee Creek staff, and at this time no inmates have required outside medical treatment as a result of the illness.
To prevent additional spread of the illness, the institution is taking proactive measures to educate inmates and staff on how to avoid contamination.

All visiting and programs for inmates in the minimum security facility have been canceled until further notice.

Coffee Creek Correctional Facility comprises a women's multi-security prison and co-gender intake center.
