Oregon DOC Medical Director Dr. Steve Shelton awarded NCCHC Bernard P. Harrison Award of Merit
 
Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) Medical Director, Dr. Steven Shelton, recently received the honored National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) 2011 Bernard P. Harrison Award of Merit. The award was presented during the opening ceremony of the National Conference on Correctional Health Care, held October 15-19, 2011, in Baltimore, MD.
 
"Dr. Shelton has played a significant role in improving both the quality and the administration of health care services for inmates in the Oregon Department of Corrections.  We are grateful for his years of service and his philosophy of patient-focused care and join NCCHC in congratulating him on being selected by his peers for this important honor," said Director Max Williams.
 
"This recognition of the award by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care is meaningful to me for many reasons, among them the long standing importance of the NCCHC in advancing correctional medicine and health care," said Dr. Steven Shelton, Medical Director.
