Oregon State Penitentiary Returns to Normal Operations
The Oregon State Penitentiary resumed normal operations this morning. The institution had been placed on a modified lockdown the afternoon of April 13, after multiple inmate fights broke out in the dining room, and later in the receiving and discharge area.
Staff brought the incidents under control, and escorted involved inmates to disciplinary segregation. Some of the inmates involved in the altercations received minor injuries. No staff injuries were reported.
As a result of the altercations, afternoon visiting and evening activities were cancelled, yesterday. Visiting and inmate activities are now back on a normal schedule.
