Fire at DOC's Central Distribution Center causes evacuation
Today at 6:50 a.m., a transformer at the Oregon Department of Corrections' Central Distribution Center in Salem caught fire, forcing the building to be evacuated. No staff members were injured and the damage was contained to the electrical system.
Temporary generators have been brought in to maintain critical operations while the electrical system is being repaired. The extent of the damage is unknown at this time.
The CDC houses the Department's main warehouse for food and supplies, as well as several staff offices.
