International Calling at DOC Facilities
The system only allows debitinternational telephone calls.  International numbers are added to an inmate’s list the same way as a domestic number.
  1. For non-mobile international numbers Dial 011, then the country code, and then the local number with the correct area code.
  2. Starting in November of 2006 Mexico and many other countries added a mobile prefix after the country code for cell phones, pagers, and other mobile devices.  For Mexico this added number is “1”.
  3. Each country has its own dialing pattern and number length.
  4. Follow the prompts correctly.
  5. Charges for international debit calls start when there is any connection, even to an operator or answering machine.
  6. Rates for international calls are: $2.00 set up fee and range from $1.00 to $5.00 per minute depending on what country you call. For example, Mexico is $1.00 per minute after connection fee and North Korea is $5.00 per minute after the $2.00 connection fee.

We are working through many issues with the complex system to dial international numbers. Inmates having continual problems with international numbers can KYTE the Inmate Phone Specialist at the address below. We may have to make additional changes in the future to accommodate international callers. We will notify the facilities if and when changes will be made.
