Radiological Services
Radiological Services
Description
The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) provides general radiography services at 7 correctional institutions in Oregon. They are staffed by State of Oregon licensed Radiology Technicians or Limited Permit Holders who have had extensive training and experience. The Health Services division also employs a licensed Radiology Technician who oversees the radiological program. This individual assists in making recommendations for purchasing and/or maintenance and sets standards for radiographic quality.

A Department of Corrections practitioner must refer inmates needing radiological exams prior to the exam. Inmates who require radiological exams, but are housed in facilities that do not provide services, are transported to the nearest facility offering radiological services or to the nearest contracted hospital or clinic. Upon completion of an x-ray exam, the digital images are then sent to our contracted radiologists. Images which need immediate attention are taken to an approved radiologist in the community of the inmate’s home institution.

Inmates who need more advanced imaging procedures (e.g. MRI, CT, Ultrasound) are scheduled at the nearest contracted hospital or clinic which offers those modalities.

All Oregon Department of Corrections radiology departments are accredited with the NCCHC through the Health Services division and meet all State standards.
