DOC Announces Institutional Leadership Changes

Paula Myers will be the new Superintendent of Santiam Correctional Institution (SCI). Paula started her corrections career as a Correctional Officer at the Oregon Women’s Correctional Center. She promoted through the security series as Sergeant, Lieutenant and Security Manager at Mill Creek Correctional Facility (MCCF), Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI) and Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP). She became Chief of Security in 2003, and held that position for five years, prior to becoming Superintendent of Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI)/South Fork Forrest Camp (SFFC). Paula has overseen operations at CRCI/SFFC since 2008. She has an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chemeketa Community College, and a Certificate in Public Management from Willamette University. She serves on the Chemeketa Community College Criminal Justice Advisory Board on behalf of DOC.
 
Superintendent Myers will also oversee maintenance and supervision of Oregon State Penitentiary Minimum (OSPM) while it is deactivated. At the time OSPM is reopened, she will assume operational oversight for the facility. 
 
Christine Popoff will be the new Superintendent of CRCI/SFFC. Christine began her career with the department in 1997 as a Partnership Coordinator for Inmate Work Programs. Since then, Christine has worked with Staff Training and was part of the start-up team for Coffee Creek Correctional Facility (CCCF). In 2003, Christine transferred to Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) as the Assistant Superintendent of Program Services, and later came full circle and transferred back to CCCF as the Assistant Superintendent of Security. In June 2010, she joined the Offender Information and Sentence Computation (OISC) team as the Administrator. Christine has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and Masters in Criminology from the University of Sydney in Australia. 
 
Rob Persson will be the new Superintendent of Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI). Rob started in 1995 as a Correctional Officer and worked his way up through the ranks. In 2003 he accepted a position at the Offender Information and Sentencing Computation (OISC) Unit where he was the Prison Term Analyst Manager and in 2006 became the Administrator of that unit. Since 2010, he has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Security at CCCF. Rob has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science from Western Oregon University and a Certificate of Public Management from Willamette University, Atkinson Graduate School of Management.
 
These changes will take place on August 1st.
