 Summary Extends sunset date for businesses to obtain approval for enterprise zone (EZ) exemption to June 30, 2025.

Extends sunset date for long-term rural enterprise zone certification to June 30, 2025.

Section Old law  New law
1 ORS 285C.255: These would have sunset June 30, 2013:
–  Last date to designate EZ;
–  Last date for a business to obtain approval for
    EZ exemption;
–  Existing EZs terminated.

These sunsets would have meant gradual expiration of previously approved exemptions as they ran out the 3- to 5-year exemption period and no new businesses would have entered the program after June 30, 2013.
ORS 285C.255: Sunset extended from June 30, 2013 to
June 30, 2025:
–  Last date to designate EZ;
–  Last date for a business to obtain approval for
    EZ exemption;
–  Existing EZs terminated.

Changes allow the program to add new EZs and new approved businesses for another 12 years.
2 ORS 285C.406: Last day for certifying a firm for long-term rural EZ exemption was June 30, 2013. ORS 285C.406: Extends sunset date for certifying a firm for long-term rural EZ exemption, from June 30, 2013 to June 30, 2025.

Note: HB 3672, section 6, extends this sunset date to June 30, 2025, as well. In addition, HB 3672 extends the sunset on certification of a firm for purposes of the long-term rural EZ income tax credit, to June 30, 2018.
