Criminal Fines and Assessment Program
What is the Criminal Fines and Assessment Program?
The program reimburses the state for costs associated with statewide law enforcement and victim services. The program receives receipts each month from:
  • Municipal courts [paid directly to the Department of Revenue (DOR)].
  • Justice courts (paid directly to DOR).
  • Circuit courts [paid directly to the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD)].
 
Both DOR and OJD place money in the Criminal Fine Account. DOR distributes funds monthly.
Who receives money from the Criminal Fines Account distribution?
Several agencies (see list) receive money based on statutory distribution amounts.
Please note that this program works with the administrative personnel from participating courts and is not involved with the actual billing or collection of court-related debts. If you have received a notice or billing from DOR concerning an outstanding court debt, see the Other Agency Accounts webpage for information.
