Reserve Manager
As Reserve Manager, Mike Graybill directs the administration of the South Slough NERR and helps to determine staff and program priorities.  He works to meet the objectives and goals of the agency and ensures that the mission of the Reserve is carried out.

Background and Experience
Born and raised in the Susquehanna River valley in central Pennsylvania, Mike Graybill grew up spending summer vacations with his family on the ocean and estuarine shores of New Jersey. His professional interests in marine science and coastal management merged during his undergraduate and graduate studies in at the University of Oregon’s Institute of Marine Biology on the Southern Oregon Coast. Mike’s graduate studies focused on the biology of seabirds and marine mammals including management topics that are prevalent in many costal communities.
Mike is very interested in how cultural factors influence the design and operation of marine protected areas and reserves . After completing his Master’s degree at OIMB in 1983, he was appointed to be the manager of the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve. He has enjoyed having an opportunity to contribute to the development of the South Slough Reserve and the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.
