Integrated Ocean Observing System
Introduction
Oregon Coast
Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS)
South Slough NERR will serve as a partner in the development of the Northwest regional coastal component of the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). The IOOS is envisioned as a national network of data acquisition and dissemination sites that will provide comprehensive and timely information about the status, condition, and future of the nation’s estuaries and coastal waters. In particular, datasets generated by the Reserve will be used to further develop and validate local numerical models that link ecosystem processes within the South Slough/Coos estuary and the near shore Pacific Ocean.
