As much as 25 percent of the heat from a forced-air heating system may be lost through leaks in the ductwork. You can get a tax credit for sealing existing ductwork or installing a well-designed and sealed duct system in your existing home or new construction. 
 
The work must be performed by a technician approved by the Oregon Department of Energy. Approved contractors are trained to meet the duct testing and sealing requirements of the regional Performance Tested Comfort System program, the same standards used by most utility incentive programs for ductwork.
