     The Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC) will meet Friday, April 30 in The Dalles regarding three petitions for rulemaking, two requiring action and one for information only.   The meeting will start at 9 a.m. at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center.
During the meeting, EFSC will:
  • Take action on a petition for rulemaking from the Oregon Natural Desert Association, which asks that the existing EFSC rules be amended to include a definition of “single energy facility”.  The Council, which took public comments at its March 12 meeting, will hear additional public comments before deciding whether to go forward with rulemaking;
  • Discuss and act on Umatilla County’s petition for rulemaking to remove the Umatilla County Energy Generation Area.  The Council has conducted the rulemaking process, so they will review the hearing officer’s report and take action;
  • Hear an information only item from the Oregon Natural Desert Association.  The group will present a petition for rulemaking to define the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management Area as a protected area in the EFSC rules.  The Council may direct staff to open a public comment period.
The Discovery Center is located at 5000 Discovery Dr. in The Dalles.  All Council meetings are open to the public.
The Oregon Department of Energy serves as staff to EFSC.  For more information about the meeting contact the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) at 503-378-4040, toll-free in Oregon at 1-800-221-8035 or check the Web site at http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/SITING/docs/Agenda/Agenda043010.pdf
