The Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC) will meet Fri., June 11 in Burns at 9 a.m. at the Harney County Fairgrounds Memorial Building, 69660 S. Egan Street.

As its first agenda item, EFSC will hear additional public comment on a petition submitted by the Oregon Natural Desert Association. The petition asks EFSC to undertake rulemaking that would add the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area to the list of protected areas as defined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 345-0 22-0040). Those rules prohibit the development of energy facilities in areas that are deemed by the Council to have special scenic, natural or environmental value. A Web link to the energy facility siting standard for Protected Areas is at http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/SITING/standards.shtml.

All Council meetings are open to the public. Oregon Department of Energy serves as staff to EFSC. For more information about the meeting, contact the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) at 503-378-4040, toll-free in Oregon at 1-800-221-8035 or check the Web site at http://egov.oregon.gov/ENERGY/SITING/index.shtml.

A request for an interpreter for the hearing impaired or for other accommodations for persons with disabilities should be made by contacting ODOE at least 72 hours before the meeting at 1-800-221-8035, TTY 1-800-735-2900, or fax 503-373-7806.
