SALEM—Applications for the next phase of Oregon’s Business Energy Tax Credit for smaller renewable projects (less than $500,000 in projected facility costs) are being accepted by the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) starting today.
$5 million in tax credits are available for this funding period, called Tier One, Phase 2.  Due to the volume of requests, the previous Tier One application period last month closed within three days.
Applications can be found on the ODOE website at: http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/CONS/BUS/tax/BETC-Renewables.shtml
Those interested in applying should know that:
  • All Tier One applications must be submitted to the following address: Oregon Department of Energy, P.O. Box 2008, Salem, OR 97308. Hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.
  • Only the new February 18 application forms will be accepted. Applications postmarked before Feb. 18, 2011 or after April 1, 2011 will not be accepted.
  • Only one application and review charge payment per postmarked envelope will be accepted.
  • ODOE will not rely on the postmark to determine a first-come, first-served basis, but will instead use the process described on its website.
Tier Two BETC funding, for renewable energy projects with costs between $500,000 and $6 million, will open March 7, 2011. $10 million will be available for applications.
Tier Three BETC funding for applications of $6 million or more in project costs is currently open through Feb. 28, 2011. $10 million is available for Tier Three.
