SALEM—The latest round of Oregon’s Business Energy Tax Credits (BETC) for smaller renewable energy projects closed Tuesday after only two business days. The Tier One Phase 2 round, for projects less than $500,000, opened Friday, Feb. 18.
The Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) received applications in excess of the $5 million in tax credits available and will no longer accept Tier One applications. Due to mandatory application processing timelines, ODOE is not creating a waitlist. Next week, ODOE will mail status updates to all Tier One Phase 2 applicants.
The next round of Tier One Phase 3 funding – another $5 million in tax credits – will be available on Monday, April 11. New application forms and instructions will be available on the ODOE website that day.
The 2010 Legislative Special Session put a $300 million cap on the amount of potential BETCs available for renewable energy projects. House Bill 3680 also created a tiered system of application review and spelled out evaluation criteria.
