SALEM — Applications are now being accepted for energy incentives (tax credits) for alternative fuel vehicle infrastructure projects through the Oregon Department of Energy. These types of projects include electric vehicle charging stations and compressed natural gas fueling stations.
For this opportunity announcement period there is approximately $2 million in tax credits available, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis through June 29, 2012.
Qualified AFVI projects are eligible for a tax credit that may not exceed 35 percent of certified cost. The tax credit is claimed over five years, with 10 percent of the certified cost claimed in each of the first two years and 5 percent claimed in each of the succeeding three years.
Application materials can be found on the ODOE website at: www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/BUSINESS/Incentives. There is a $200 application fee and a technical review fee, which is 1.05 percent of project cost.
The AFVI tax credit program is part of ODOE’s new Energy Incentives Program, created by the 2011 Legislature. The EIP replaces the Business Energy Tax Credit program.
About the Department of Energy: The Oregon Department of Energy provides tax credits, loans, technical assistance and energy information for homes, businesses, manufacturing, farms, ranches, schools and governments.
