Financial Considerations
Financial support by the State of Oregon:

Individuals installing a wind energy system for their home may be eligible for Residential Tax Credit. For details, see http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/CONS/RES/tax/wind.shtml

Business Energy Tax Credits are available to commercial developers of wind systems. This incentive is 50 percent of the cost to develop wind resources. Contact the Department of Energy before you start your project.

Financing wind energy systems in Oregon can be accomplished using the Small Scale Energy Loan Program. Fixed rate, fixed term financing can be arranged for businesses and individuals installing projects that pose conventional loan risks.

Financial support by the Federal Government:

The federal government provides a tax incentive through December 2016 for small wind turbines of 100 kW or smaller in the amount of 30 percent of the installed cost or $4,000, which ever is less. For homes, there is an additional rule: the tax credit is the lesser of $4,000 or $1,000 per kW. See http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c-products.pr_tax_credits#s10

The federal government also provides production based tax credits, although the law that determines these credits has a limited duration. Please check the latest on the web site of the American Wind Energy Association http://www.awea.org/
