(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber released the following statement after learning Cover Oregon was granted $226 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:
"Today Cover Oregon, our state’s health insurance exchange, announced that Oregon has received $226 million in grant funding over the next two years from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This is a strong vote of confidence from our federal partners.
The federal grant will help us meet our goal of improving the health of all Oregonians by providing health care coverage options, increasing access to information and fostering quality and value in the health care system. Oregonians will have clear and accurate information when shopping for health care coverage for themselves, their families or their small businesses."
Oregonians will be able to log on and shop for health care coverage this fall. Policies will be loaded on CoverOregon.com in October and will be effective on January 1, 2014.
