(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber today released the following statement on the Oregon Employment Department’s latest numbers for the state labor market. The Department announced that Oregon’s seasonally adjusted gain of 7,500 jobs in March 2014 was the largest monthly gain in eight years. This continues Oregon’s economic expansion, with many of the state’s major industries – including construction, leisure and hospitality, and health care – adding more than 1,000 jobs each.
"Since I took office in January 2011, we’ve added more than 94,000 jobs, and our economy continues to improve. We are on the right track, and I will continue to focus on spurring our economy to create living wage jobs and support workers with the education, training, and skills to secure good jobs in every corner of the state. Today's news is good, but there is more to be done to ensure that all Oregonians, regardless of their zip code, have equal opportunity for economic prosperity."
