(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber released the following statement:
"Dr. Crew informed me this afternoon he has accepted the position of President of Medgar Evers College. I expect his formal resignation this week and wish him well on his future endeavors.
The Oregon Education Investment Board has made tremendous progress shaping the vision behind Oregon’s 40-40-20 goals to deliver better education results for Oregon students and more resources for our educators. We now have a framework for better accountability at the state and local level to boost high school graduation rates, improve access to quality post-secondary education and training and begin to reinvest in education. Our work will continue. I am pleased that at all levels of the education system – from early learning to K-12 and post-secondary – we have committed leaders in place to deliver on our promise to Oregonians.
I expect to have an interim Chief Education Officer appointed by July 15. I will convene the Oregon Education Investment Board in coming days to discuss a process for selecting a replacement."
