Big step forward on Oregon's priorities

(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber released the following statement regarding Senate passage of key legislation:
“Today the Senate took important steps forward on our commitment to transform Oregon's public education and health care systems," said Governor Kitzhaber. "I commend the Senate President for his leadership in passing a K-12 budget, which will allow school districts across the state to begin planning for the next school year while supporting our goals to deliver better results for students and more resources for teachers, and House Bill 2216, a critical part of our overall state budget that is key to delivering better health, better care, and lower costs to Oregonians.
I remain optimistic and supportive of Senate efforts to pass additional PERS savings and revenue to boost education funding this session.”
