Governor Kitzhaber appoints Clara L. Rigmaiden to the Lane County Circuit Court

(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber today announced the appointment of Clara L. Rigmaiden to fill the vacancy on the Lane County Circuit Court created by the retirement of Judge Eveleen Henry.

"Clara Rigmaiden earned a reputation for being a strong advocate both for her clients and for the integrity of the judicial system," said Governor Kitzhaber. "With her deep trial experience, even temperament, and community engagement, I am confident that she will have a long record of contributions to the court and serve the citizens of Lane County and the State of Oregon with great distinction."

Ms. Rigmaiden received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boise State University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon School of Law.  In 1999, she began her legal career in private practice as a civil attorney handling cases such as divorce, child support, contracts, and estate planning, and later became a staff attorney with the Southwestern Oregon Public Defender Services.  In 2001, she moved to Eugene and became a staff attorney with Public Defender Services of Lane County and has handled thousands of cases with increasingly limited resources while earning the respect of judges, opposing counsel, and her colleagues.  In the community, Ms. Rigmaiden has mentored middle school students, volunteered for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and served on the board for the Cascades Raptor Center.
