(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber statement on the resignation of Superintendent Susan Castillo:

“I congratulate Superintendent Castillo on her new opportunity and wish her well. She has been a dedicated public servant who has always kept children and students at the forefront. I am committed to a smooth transition and moving forward on the important education reforms that are underway to deliver better results for Oregon students.”

The Governor plans to consult with newly-appointed Chief Education Officer Rudy Crew and name an interim Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction by July 1.
